Flu vaccinations 2020

Flu clinic

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic we are adjusting our flu clinics for 2020. We will be offering them by appointment only. We will NOT accept any walk-in patients.

Initially, we will be inviting eligible patients via. text or letter for clinics running from 1st October 2020. We are going to be starting with those who are at highest risk of complications from covid-19 and over the age of 65 years old. You will be sent details about a specific date and one hour time slot. We appreciate that you might not be able to make your allocated appointment slot; however if you are unable to attend your given appointment slot, we will be releasing more bookable slots after the 21st October 2020.

If you do not receive an appointment date / time please wait until after the 21st October 2020 to ring our reception team to book in for an appointment. Please do be patient whilst we vaccinate those at highest risk first. We currently have around 1500 patients on the high risk list.

Am I eligible?

Patients who are at highest risk are those aged 65 and over or are in the current “At Risk” group can have their flu jabs.

“At Risk” means patients with a serious medical condition such as:

  • Chronic (long-term) respiratory disease, such as severe asthma, COPD or bronchitis
  • Chronic heart disease, such as heart failure
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Chronic liver disease
  • Chronic neurological disease, such as Parkinson’s disease or motor neurone disease
  • Diabetes
  • A weakened immune system due to disease such as HIV/AIDS, or treatment such as cancer
  • Being a carer

Attending the Flu clinic

Please ensure you turn up ONLY at your allocated appointment time. If you do not, you will be turned away. If you have not received a text or letter with an appointment date / time you will not be allowed in and will have to return on an alternative day. This applies to even household / family members.

Please ensure you wear a face covering and a t-shirt or top, which can easily expose your arm so we can quickly and easily give you the flu-vaccination, minimising contact time with the clinician.

If you are unwell on the day of your appointment or display any symptoms of Covid-19 you must not attend our surgery. There will be opportunities later in October and winter months to attend.

If you are wanting to source a flu vaccination sooner than we are able to offer, please approach your nearest pharmacist. Thank you.
